Kia ora, welcome to Ngaru Toa. (Pronounced Nar-Roo-Tor)  Ngaru Toa means Wave Warrior.

You'll find us in Gisborne/Turanganui-a-kiwa
first city in the world to see the new day on the East Coast of the North Island,New Zealand/Aotearoa.
With a 50% Maori population the Gisborne/Tairawhiti East Coast region is rich in culture and history.

Gisborne has been a surf city since the sixties when visiting surfers found much to like about the many and varied breaks in the area.
We call it a city- but really, Gisborne's a town, and that's what we like about it - not too big and not too busy - there aren't too many other places where you can go to the beach before work, after work, and during your lunch break.

Apart from the obvious attractions, there’s a lot to enjoy here.  The East Coast isn't just home to some of New Zealand's best surfers, it's also home to a bunch of talented artists
and musicians who enjoy the coast way of life. .

If you're passing through feel free to call in to our shop at 59 Gladstone Road close to the bridge on the main street to check our latest styles or just to check the surf report.
